Independence
How AIR APAC stays independent.
AIR APAC measures organisations and places, and it teaches the people who work in them. Those two activities are kept apart by rules, not by promises.
The rules
What we will not do, and who the rules apply to.
- We do not sell training to anyone we are currently measuring. A measurement period opens when we publish the questions, the systems and the scoring we will use, and it closes when every result is published. While it is open, we sell nothing to anyone in it.
- That rule follows the people, not the payment. If your organisation is being measured, we will not train your people inside that period, and it makes no difference who pays. An association, a ministry or a donor paying on your behalf does not change the answer.
- Our free material has no such restriction, because nothing is being sold. Anyone we measure can use everything we publish for free, at any time, including while we are measuring them.
- The method is fixed before the period opens, and rebuilt for the next one. The questions, the systems queried and the scoring rules are published in advance and cannot be changed afterwards. Each new period is frozen and published from scratch. Nobody who has paid us gets any say in what comes next.
- Results are published free to whoever is measured. Every measured organisation and place receives its result, at the same time and in the same form, whether or not it has ever paid us anything.
- Customers get no private access, no early access, and no influence. The instrument is public: the questions, the systems and the scoring are there for anyone to read. Paying us buys you no more of it, no sooner, and no say in it. You see exactly what everyone else sees, when they see it.
- We disclose past work. Where we have worked with an organisation we also measure, we say so on the report, and we name when.
- We take no money from the companies whose systems we measure, and none from booking platforms.
What these rules cost.
These rules cost us revenue. That is how you can tell they are rules.
We publish our method and we publish what we get wrong. If you find an error in a result about you, tell us and we will publish the correction.
