Eyebrow: A free course · AIR APAC's learning division
AI Fluency, Level 1 is a free course from AIR APAC's learning division. This page explains what it is, who it was written for, what it teaches, what a person receives and what it is not.
What the course is
AIR Academy, AIR APAC's learning division, delivers the course.
The course is twelve short videos over four weeks. The twelve videos are free to anyone, permanently, with no account.
Who it was written for
The course is written for city tourism officers. They are expert in their own work and new to AI. Each of the five things below is practised on a real task from the officer's own desk, not on an example from the course.
No technical background is assumed, and none is taught.
What a person should be able to do by the end
The course is built around five things a person should be able to do by the end of week four:
- Sort a task on their desk into what AI may draft, what it may help with, and what it must not own.
- Write a brief that an AI tool can follow.
- Catch plausible errors in polished AI output, and check each claim against a named record, not against the AI.
- Trace where an AI answer about their place comes from.
- Bring one clear AI decision to their director on one page, with an owner, a task, a check and a date.
The four weeks follow four themes in order: Give (what to hand to AI), Specify (how the brief changes the result), Check (verify before forwarding) and Own (name the owner).
What a person receives
The course page describes a Record of Participation for completion of the four-week course. It records that the person took part in the four weeks. It is not a certificate and not a qualification.
Nothing in the course assesses or scores anyone. No employer receives a report on anyone.
The Record of Participation has no level, band or confidence, because nothing in the course assesses anyone. Section 20.2 of AIRS-J/1, the Standard for judgment in AI-enabled work, says that such a record carries no level, band or confidence and counts for nothing in an assessment.
What the course is not
Course participation contributes nothing towards certification. Certification under AIRS-J/1 is a separate assessment on a separate instrument, and nothing from the course enters it. No course is required before an Assessment, and attendance earns nothing toward certification. AIRS-J/1, section 4.3, says a candidate may present for assessment without prior training. The certification rules set out what that assessment asks of a candidate.
A note on the name
"Level 1" is only the name of this course. It is not Level 1 (Emerging) on the scale of 0 to 4 in section 7 of AIRS-J/1.
What this does not claim
- That taking the course raises anyone's chance of certifying, makes anyone ready for an assessment, or assures any result (AIRS-J/1, section 20.2).
- That the course is aligned to AIRS-J/1 in the sense of section 20.1 of the Standard. This page makes no alignment claim.
- That any funding body approves the course, or that the course qualifies for funding (AIRS-J/1, section 20.1).
