We publish a public Standard for how people decide when they work with AI. AIR Academy, our learning division, offers fifteen programmes for managers and teams. People who want proof of their skill can earn certification through a separate assessment. We also publish free research on what organisations in Asia Pacific say about their AI work.

AIR Academy

AIR Academy: training for managers and teams.

AIR Academy is AIR APAC's learning division. It offers fifteen instructor-led programmes for managers and teams, in half-day, one-day and two-day formats. The main programme is From Answers to Decisions: practical AI upskilling for managers. Programmes are delivered through trainer partners.

AI Fluency is offered free to member cities of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO), a network of city governments, through its Secretariat, over four weeks. Read about the TPO collaboration.

Why it exists

AI systems now produce the answer. They do not carry the consequence of acting on it.

The Standard states its own purpose: "AIR APAC is the judgment authority: it defines what good judgment in AI-enabled work looks like, assesses people against it through its official instrument, and stands behind every result." When AI gives the answer, a person still decides whether to trust it and act on it. The Standard describes that decision. AIR Academy training builds it. A separate assessment measures it.

  • 19 August 2026. AIRS-J/1 version 1.0, the first edition of the Standard, published in full.
  • 30 September 2026. The AI Readiness Index, Q2 2026 edition: 5,820 candidates screened across 23 markets, 1,000 organisations named from what they publish about their AI work. Free to read, with no form to fill in.
  • 3 October 2026. Version 2.0 of the Standard approved by the owner and the review board, no dissent recorded.
  • 2026. Private consultations with a group of member cities of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO), at the TPO Forum. The subject was how AI assistants describe each city.
  • 18 October 2026. Version 2.2 in force. Facilitator certification brought under the Standard.
  • 19 October 2026. Version 2.3 in force, with three guidance notes on deciding under uncertainty.
  • 19 October 2026. Twelve articles and a field guide published under Insights.
Research Insights
People and governance

Thirteen named experts review every major version of the Standard.

Four advisory panels bring in university professors in AI and management, company founders, and senior business and public-sector leaders. Titles, affiliations, the panels and the appointment rules are on the people page.

The Standard owner is AIR APAC Pte. Ltd., represented by its director. Members of the Review Board serve two-year terms. AIR APAC, as owner of the Standard, makes the final decision, and any dissent is published. Board members declare interests and do not advise on a matter in which they have one.

Version 2.3 of the Standard is in force. Every version is dated and public. Version 2.0 was approved on 3 October 2026 by the owner and the review board of that time, with no dissent recorded. Versions 2.1 (15 October 2026), 2.2 (18 October 2026) and 2.3 (19 October 2026) are smaller updates. The owner approved each one and informed the board. Every version stays online at its own permanent web address.

Prof. Mudiarasan Kuppusamy of Curtin University Malaysia is the External Academic Reviewer of the Standard. The evidence programme behind the Standard is public, with the status of each check.

Certification

Certification: earned in a separate assessment, valid for two years, checkable by anyone.

The Standard sets the rules for assessing how a person decides when they work with AI: nine dimensions in four domains, at levels 0 to 4. The assessment criteria, scoring examples and decision rules are public. No customer can add its own. Every decision follows the published rules. No one earns more when a person passes. Training is optional. A separate assessment leads to certification.

Anyone can apply, with or without our training. Certification lasts two years. Each credential is listed in a free public register that anyone can check by code, with no account needed.

Built by Exeter Labs

StepSim: the decision simulation used for practice and assessment, built by Exeter Labs.

Assessments run on StepSim, a text-based decision simulation in which a person decides with an AI partner whose reliability is set in advance and hidden. Written rules score what the person does. No AI grades anyone. StepSim is an AIR APAC initiative. The owner of AIR APAC also owns Exeter Labs, and the Standard declares this interest in Section 4.9.

The software and instruments behind this work are built and operated by Exeter Labs, the engineering company founded by the same person. Exeter Labs builds and contracts. AIR APAC publishes, measures and trains.

For trainer partners

Your client stays your client.

Trainer partners deliver AIR Academy programmes to their own clients. While your registration stands, AIR APAC and Exeter Labs will not sell training to a client you brought. Trainers who complete the facilitator programme, including an observed session with a real group, are certified as facilitators by AIR APAC.

AIR APAC Pte. Ltd. is a social enterprise company registered in Singapore (UEN 202600913G). It has received no grant, donation or sponsorship, and no organisation pays to be included in the Index.

Our research is independent: we do not sell to anyone we are measuring.

  • We do not sell services to an organisation, or its people, while we are measuring it, whoever pays.
  • Results are free to everyone, including the organisations named in them. Paying us buys no private access, no early access and no say.

To appeal a decision, write to us through the contact page within 30 days. The published procedure explains each step. The owner of AIR APAC takes no part in deciding an appeal or a complaint. Complaints and access support have their own published procedures. If you find an error in a published result about you, tell us and we will publish the correction. We reply within two working days.
